Throwback Thursday - 5/22/2014

Throwin' it back all the say to May 17, 2014?  Yeah, this isn't really much of a throwback Thursday, but since the pictures from the North Carolina Warrior Dash were just posted today, you'll just have to live with it :).

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Warrior Dash 2014 Video!

Here's some highlights from the 2014 North Carolina Warrior Dash shot on my GoPro yesterday!  There's also a couple pictures posted below as well. Had a blast!  Thanks again to all who donated to St Jude leading up to this race!

Warrior Wednesday and Sunday Scoop . . . on a Friday?

Yeah, my updates on here have been rather scarce.  With the new baby and focusing a bit on getting back into jogging and semi-healthy eating, I haven't had quite as much time to write or post many blogs.  So here's a quick update on all things jogging, fundraising, and writing related.

First off - Warrior Wednesday

So, when I was trying to motivate myself to get back into running again, I signed up for the North Carolina Warrior Dash with the goal of completing it in no more than my past times(I've run the Warrior Dash twice in Kentucky in the past).  Then, I signed up to raise money for St. Jude through the Warrior Dash with an initial goal of  $300.  Thanks to many kind donations, I hit that goal, and then again when I raised it to $500.  To everyone who's donated so far, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Well, the race is this Saturday, as in tomorrow.  I humbly request that you take a minute to go to http://www.warrior.stjude.org/brianbeam and consider donating to this amazing organization.  I've made a donation of my own, and will be adding one later today due to my pledge to donate $1 per consecutive day I jog more than one mile(I hit my 35 day goal, with today being my day off of running to rest for the race).  That's $535, which I'm ecstatic will go to help the sick children cared for by St. Jude hospitals and their research into the treatment of childhood diseases.  However, there's still one day left to donate, and every $5 gives you a chance to win signed copies of my books!  So give the site a quick look if you have the chance today.  I'll be randomly selecting the winners for the prizes sometime next week, and will notify them as quickly as possible!

As for the Warrior Dash, I'll be taping the race, so if anyone happens to care, I'll be posting a POV-ish(chest mounted camera) video of my run on here in the near future.  Below's a sample video I did to make sure the camera was going to do well for a jogging video(WARNING - it's a boring neighborhood jog).

I'm very happy to be back into running, and I'm feeling a million times better health wise.  Heck, I even have some of that natural, non-caffeinated energy back.

Now, on to the Sunday Scoop.

This sucks to admit, but since my last Sunday Scoop blog on 3/18/2014, I have not written a single new word on Book 3 of Korin's Journal.  That's 2 months of no writing!  My priorities have been shifted during these 2 months, and I can't say exactly when I'll be diving back into the final volume of the Korin's Journal trilogy with any certainty, but I'll get there, and I'll be letting you know about my progress when I do.  For all two people looking forward to it, I apologize.  The story's(for the most part) in my head, ready to be put to paper; I'm just not able to put in the effort and focus it deserves at the moment.  I'll get there and do my best to provide updates and previews from the first draft chapters.

So, that's about it, really.  Wish me luck in tomorrow's race!

I'm running the Warrior Dash for all of you who have so graciously
helped support St. Jude.  Thank you!!!

Throwback Thursday - 5/1/2014

With my newfound motivation to get back into running and getting a little healthier, in addition to Saturday being my first of 3 consecutive Saturdays of obstacle/mud 5K races, I thought I'd post a few running pictures from the past few years.

Yep, that's me and my wife with Jared.
